Age Is Not Equal To Innocence.

 EDITORS NOTE: This is a post from Guest Blogger Sean Sterling. Sean comes to us "straight out of the center of this great nation. I have been fortunate enough to see this country from coast to coast. And no place has captured my attention more than San Francisco." Sean is a volunteer with the American Friend Service Committee. He was pulled into this Mural Project and not only volunteered to help us beautify the space but also wanted to write about an 8th grade class that took a field trip to visit our beloved mural:



  Personally, I find it hard to call an 8Th grader a child, these day's their perception, seems to be greater than some. What I  mean by this is, that they seem to see  thing's that are not apparent to most. Call it what you will, innocence, naivete ? Suppose, maybe it is truth in spirit.

Appreciating something brings about knowledge, knowingly or not. Perhaps it just happens naturally .Check out these 8th. graders @ sffriendsschool.org children, as we call them, have a unique quality that is admirable. I would not  call it simple, but mighty and powerful.

      “There can be no peace as long as there is grinding poverty, social injustice, inequality, oppression, environmental degradation, and as long as the weak and small continue to be trodden by the mighty and powerful.”

This is just one example of what our youth are into these day's.

this is another impressive group of young adults, who see things differently. They call themselves 67  sueños. Sueños. A beautiful word. Hope in action ! I hope this also, gives you hope  !

Bringing these young people into this world, is a gift unto our selves.

Treating them as young adults, could be our gift to them. As a child, I believe , we are taught what to believe. From the time we are born through our first steps and so on. These young adults seem to be headed in the right direction. I now ask myself.
